Delimitation panel’s recomendation smacks of erroneous assessment: Saifuddin Soz

Srinagar: Former Union Minister Prof. Saifuddin Soz Monday appealed Ghulam Nabi Azad and Altaf Bukhari to help in achieving the real demands and not what they perceive to be the demand of the people.

In a statement, Soz said that: “To the best of my ability, I can place before Gulam Nabi Azad Sahib and Altaf Bukhari Sahib, the real public demands.”

“Restoration of Statehood cannot be our demand. It was a folly of the Central Govt. to have reduced India’s prestigious Jammu & Kashmir state into a Union Territory. Both of them – PM Modi and HM Amit Shah became a laughing stock that time! It was, therefore, that Shri Amit Shah said in the Lok Sabha on October 23, 2021 that statehood to J&K would be restored soon as the Union Territory status was required for a short time.”

“Azad Sahib and Bukhari Saheb should support the J&K Peoples’ real demand i.e. “Restoration of our Internal Autonomy that was enshrined in the Article 370 of the Constitution of India”! This provision was removed by the Central Govt. illegally and unconstitutionally,” Soz said.

He said that Jammu and Kashmir State’s position as a state is guaranteed in the Constitution of India and the Constitution of J&K State. That is why; there is a petition before the Supreme Court of India for adjudication.

“Whatever the Supreme Court’s decision, the J&K Peoples’ struggle would continue in the larger interests of the people.” (KNT)
