Walkathon on the theme ‘Save Youth from Drugs’ held at Tangmarg

BARAMULLA, JUNE 10: The Drug Awareness Club and the Department of Physical Education of Government Degree College (GDC) Tangmarg, in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Bank Tangmarg, organized a walkathon from GDC Tangmarg to Chandiloora market on the theme ‘Save Youth from Drugs’.

More-than 200 students from GDC Tangmarg, Govt. Higher Secondary School Chandiloora and Govt. Girls High School Chandiloora participated in the Walkathon.

The walkathon was preceded by an inaugural session held in the College Auditorium. Dr. Javaid Ahmad Dar, convener Drug Awareness Club, briefed the audience about the plan of the event. He also outlined the importance and need of sensitizing the youth about growing Drug Menace.

Principal Govt. Degree College Tangmarg, Prof. Dr. Ifran Ul Majid in her welcome address while paying gratitude to guests also lauded the efforts of staff in making the event successful.

The inaugural session was followed by a flag-off ceremony. Shakeel Ahmad Kirmani and Zaffar Ahmad, Principal Govt. Higher Secondary School Chandiloora, Manager J&K Bank Tangmarg flagged-off the Walkathon. Zahid Sharief, PTI GDC Tangmarg led the Walkathon while raising slogans to and fro Chandiloora market.

The Walkathon concluded at GDC Tangmarg. The event was attended by Principal Govt. Higher Secondary School Chandiloora Tangmarg, Manager J&K Bank, officials from Police and Health Departments and Faculty members, Non-Teaching staff and local Fund employees of GDC Tangmarg.
