GANDERBAL, AUGUST 23: The District Election Officer (DEO) Ganderbal, Shyambir Friday conducted a comprehensive review of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities, in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections in the district.

During the meeting, the DEO instructed the officials to reactivate the Booth Awareness Groups (BAGs) that were constituted during the last elections. These groups play a crucial role in voter awareness and education, ensuring maximum participation in the electoral process.

The DEO also emphasized the importance of Election Literacy Clubs in schools and directed the Principals to establish these clubs promptly. These clubs are expected to play a significant role in educating the younger population about the electoral process and encouraging informed voting.

In a focused effort to improve voter turnout, the DEO directed the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to analyze voter data, particularly in areas where voter turnout was low in the previous election.

Special activities and interactive sessions with voters in these areas will be organized to identify the reasons for low voter participation.

Additionally, the DEO stressed the importance of proper functioning of Voter Facilitation Centres at every Polling Station on the day of polling. These centers are to be equipped and ready to ensure a free and fair election process.

The DEO directed all officers and stakeholders to work diligently towards ensuring high voter turnout and the smooth conduct of the upcoming assembly elections in Ganderbal.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gulzar Ahmad; ACR, Deputy DEO, DTO and other officers and officials.
