Orchardists from Kishtwar flagged off to attend 5-Day National Agriculture Summit

KISHTWAR, NOVEMBER 19: A group of 70 progressive Orchardists/farmers from the horticulture zones of Kishtwar, Chatroo, Nagseni, and Padder were today flagged off for to participate in the National Agriculture Summit at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Pawan Kotwal, along with Chief Horticulture Officer Sajid Mustafa, flagged off the farmers.

The exposure visit, organized under the aegis of the MIDH Scheme, aims to provide farmers with an opportunity to learn about the latest agricultural innovations, sustainable practices, and modern technologies in farming and horticulture. The summit is expected to serve as a platform for farmers, agricultural scientists, and policymakers to exchange knowledge and explore strategies to enhance productivity and income generation.

Speaking at the flagging-off ceremony, the ADC emphasized the importance of exposure visits in broadening the horizon of local farmers and enabling them to adopt advanced techniques to improve the quality and yield of their crops. He encouraged the participants to actively engage in the summit sessions and apply their learnings to uplift the agricultural and horticultural landscape of Kishtwar.

During the summit, the group of farmers will interact with experts, attend technical sessions, and witness demonstrations of innovative farming techniques. They are expected to return with actionable insights to implement best practices in their fields and orchards, which could significantly benefit the district’s agrarian economy.

The event was participated by Brij Paul SMS, Daljeet Singh HDO and other Staff.
