SHOPIAN, JUNE 20: In a bid to promote community awareness about the Forest Rights Act, department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Shopian in collaboration with Rural Development department (RDD) today organised an awareness camp on the Forest Rights Act, 2006 at Kathohalan Keller area of the district.
On the occasion, Nukad Natak was presented by artists of Yadgar Theatre Kulgam on the theme of ‘Your Forests, Your Rights’.
The programme, organized under the banner of Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyaan and Forest Rights Act awareness campaign, aimed to sensitize forest dwellers, local communities and government functionaries about the provisions of the Act which legally recognises the rights of forest-dwelling scheduled tribes and other traditional forest dwellers over forest land and other forest resources.
District Information Officer, BDO, Keller, and officers from line departments and officials of the department were present along with local community members.
