KULGAM, JUNE 23: In order to promote employment generation in the floriculture sector, a group of 20 progressive farmers from the district was deputed to SKUAST-Kashmir for capacity building training under HADP project, Cluster-Based Floriculture Entrepreneurship of Employment Generation scheme.

The group was flagged-off from the premises of the mini-secretariat Kulgam jointly by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kulgam, Riyaz Ahmad Shah and Chief Agriculture Officer, Farooq Ahmad Reshi.

It was informed that the training programme aims to foster a sense of attachment among the progressive farmers of the district towards the floriculture industry, which offers a viable option for crop diversification and reduces dependency on traditional farming practices.

As part of the training schedule, the group will visit KVK Pombay on 24 June, 2025 and the Lavender Farm at Sirhama, Anantnag on 25 June, 2025.

Additionally, a second group of 10 farmers was deputed to SKUAST-K for a one-day capacity building training under HADP project, Rainfed Area Development program.

The objective of this training is to raise awareness among farmers regarding the efficient use of water in rainfed areas.
