Pulwama, Mar 02 : With PDD hiking monthly tariff, residents of  several villages in Pulwama have demanded enhancement of power infrastructure as they claim that dangling electric wires tied with trees, old poles are posing grave threat to the lives of people as well as to their property.

Residents of Panzgam, Kulpora, Grawgunf, Rakh, Zahid Bagh, Chakoora ,Darbagh and adjacent areas while speaking to news agency— alleged that they are living under constant fear due to low lying electric wires tied with trees in their villages since decades but no attention is being given towards it.

They said that power infrastructure in terms of transformers have been enhanced but there is a need to upgrade power lines and electric poles.

Jahangeer Ahmad, a resident of Zahid Bagh said that the electric lines touch roofs of houses and trees on roads posing risk to life and property and due to low lying overhead transmission lines.

“We have been repeatedly requesting the concerned department to replace the dangling and damaged electric wires and poles but our pleas fell on deaf ears,” he said.

Uzair Ahmad a resident of Panzgam said that despite raising this issue in all the back to Village programmes repeatedly but nothing has been done as of now in this regard.

“Around 80 percent of wires in our village have been tied with trees in the absence of poles due to which the wires are very low and very weak as well which often get damaged,” said Faizan Ahmad a resident of Rakh.

Locals from other villages while echoing the same voice said that they have repeatedly brought this issue in notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.

They said that they have been paying monthly tariffs on time but they are receiving unscheduled plans with poor power infrastructure.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter and take immediate steps in this regard so that people won’t suffer anymore.
