ANANTNAG, AUGUST 10: The arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day-2026 celebrations in district Anantnag were finalized today during a meeting of the concerned officers chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC), Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat at Dak Bunglalow, Khanabal.
At the outset, the participating departments informed the chair about the progress and status of execution of their assigned tasks for district, subdivision, Tehsil, block and Panchayat level events. It was given out that the preparations are going on smoothly for successful conduct of both Full Dress Rehearsal and the main event on 15th of August, across the district.
Emphasising the historical importance of Independence Day, the DC described it as a momentous occasion that be celebrated with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. He reviewed the Action Taken and Compliance Reports of the concerned departments on the directions issued during the previous meeting.
During the proceedings, key aspects and arrangements including the rehearsals, preparation, consolidation and barricading of venue at SHMM, GDC Anantnag, stage/dice preparation and management, security, sanitation and cleanliness, seating, medical care, transportation and traffic management plan, preparation and presentation of march past contingents, cultural items and Jhankis, uninterrupted power and water supply, venue illumination and decoration, deployment of fire tenders, printing and distribution of invitation cards, installation of the public address system, award ceremony and prize distribution were reviewed in detail.
Dr. Bilal issued directions to all concerned officers to discharge their assigned tasks diligently and put in place the necessary arrangements well in time so that smooth celebrations befitting the national event are held. He underscored the need for seamless coordination among the concerned departments and exhorted them to make collective efforts for successful conduct of the programme in it’s true spirit.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the Independence Day preparations for the events to be held at Sub-divisions, Tehsils, Blocks, Municipalities, Panchayats and Schools, instructing the SDMs to oversee the preparations within the respective jurisdictions for smooth and hassle free conduct of these events. He asked the ACD to make the necessary arrangements in consultation with SP, CEO and other officers for holding celebratory functions in Panchayats and Schools of the district.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from Civil Administration, Police, Army, CRPF, College Principals, officers from engineering departments and other concerned officials of the district.
