SRINAGAR, AUGUST 10: As part of the ongoing Independence Day Celebrations-2026, the Cultural Unit Srinagar of the Information Department organised a series of cultural and educational activities at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), Sonwar, and Government High School (GHS), Malik Sahib, Safa Kadal.
The programmes featured Patriotic Singing Competitions, Symposia, Painting, Speech and Quiz Competitions, providing students with a vibrant platform to showcase their creative abilities, knowledge and patriotic spirit.
The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who displayed remarkable talent and wholehearted involvement. Through patriotic songs, thought-provoking speeches, paintings and quiz activities, the students reflected upon the significance of Independence, the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the values of unity, freedom, peace and national integrity.
The initiative was aimed at fostering patriotic consciousness among the younger generation and encouraging students to understand and appreciate the ideals and responsibilities associated with the nation’s freedom. The activities also provided an engaging avenue for students to express their ideas and creativity in the spirit of Independence Day.
Abdul Raqib Bhat, Cultural Officer, Kashmir, and Syed Shakeel Shan, AECO, graced the programmes and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students. They commended the students for their talent, discipline and patriotic fervour and acknowledged the cooperation extended by the school authorities and teaching staff in ensuring the successful conduct of the programmes.
The Cultural Unit Srinagar will continue to organise such cultural and awareness-oriented activities across educational institutions as part of the Independence Day celebrations, with the objective of promoting patriotism, creativity and a deeper sense of national unity among young minds.
