KISHTWAR, AUGUST 20: A comprehensive training programme commenced today for Returning Officers, election officials, and polling staff associated with the Legislative Assembly Elections in District Kishtwar.

The training was inaugurated here in the GDC Auditorium, focusing on critical aspects of the electoral process, including the operation of EVM-VVPAT systems, management of polling stations, and overall preparedness for Election Day. The session was designed to equip polling personnel with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure a smooth and transparent election process.

Meanwhile, a dedicated training session on Election Expenditure Monitoring System and the Model Code of Conduct was held in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex for the Election Expenditure Monitoring Team.

These sessions, led by Nodal Officer Training, Riyaz Ahmed Butt, provided in-depth training on crucial election-related matters such as the use of EVM-VVPAT, postal ballot management, and adherence to the model code of conduct.

Other Key topics covered in the training included the collection, transportation, and maintenance of EVM-VVPATs, the organization of polling stations, and logistical arrangements for polling day. Participants were also briefed on IT applications, cost monitoring, and other essential election protocols.

A detailed presentation highlighted the duties and responsibilities of booth-level officers, presiding officers, sector officers, and micro observers, ensuring that all personnel are well-prepared to handle their roles effectively.

In addition, an online interactive demonstration and training session on the Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) was conducted via video conferencing from the DC Office. This session was specifically aimed at the Returning Officers of all three Assembly Constituencies in Kishtwar, namely 48-Inderwal, 49-Kishtwar, and 50-Nagseni Paddar.

The ROs Pawan Kotwal (49-Kishtwar), Idrees Lone (48-Inderwal) and Dr Amit Kumar (50-Nagseni Paddar) were present.

The ETPBS allows service voters to receive and cast their postal ballots electronically from a location outside their assigned voting constituency. This system significantly enhances the ease of voting for service electors, addressing the challenges related to the timely dispatch and receipt of postal ballots.

The training programme marks a critical step in the district’s preparedness for the forthcoming election, ensuring that all election personnel are well-trained and equipped to conduct a fair and efficient electoral process.
