KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 14: As part of the ongoing Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign, a series of plantation drives were organized under the theme Green SVEEP at various polling stations in the Bani and Lohai Malhar areas of Bani (63) constituency.

The initiative, held under the guidance of Returning Officer (RO) Gaisul Haq, aimed to promote voter awareness while also emphasizing environmental conservation.

Forest officials from the territorial forest ranges of Basholi and Billawar divisions actively participated in the plantation efforts at polling stations including Lowang, Fatehpur, Charoga, Bhandar, Kachir, Nathi, Khurrwah, Gatti, and Bani.

The plantation drives were carried out in collaboration with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of the respective polling stations, further highlighting the importance of community involvement in both electoral and environmental stewardship.

AC SVEEP Nodal Officer, Prof. Naseeb Kr Bhagat, along with Range Officer Vineet Gupta, led the plantation of Chir and Deodar saplings at Government Girls High School Bani, with the participation of students and staff.

During the event, Prof. Bhagat delivered a lecture on the significance of voting and the role of the SVEEP program in encouraging maximum voter participation in the upcoming assembly elections in J&K. He also emphasized the responsibility of citizens in maintaining ecological balance alongside their civic duties.
