KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 25: Government High School (GHS) Mara Patti on Wednesday organized a Voter Awareness Program under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative.

The event, held in the presence of Principal Shiv Devi, Sector Officer Dalip Kumar (Senior Lecturer), and BLO, Mara Patti, Sunil Kerni, aimed to promote voter education and encourage informed electoral participation in the community.

The Sector Officer Dalip Kumar, emphasized the importance of the SVEEP initiative as a flagship program of the Election Commission of India, designed to spread voter awareness and promote voter literacy. He highlighted that SVEEP is a multi-intervention program tailored to the socio-economic, cultural, and demographic profiles of the region, with the aim of educating citizens and electors about the electoral process. Through various modes and media such as print, electronic, and social platforms, the Election Commission disseminates voter awareness materials to engage citizens and foster informed participation in elections.

During the event, Kuldeep Singh (Lecturer Botany) also addressed the students, stressing the need for every citizen to register as a voter and cast their vote in an informed and ethical manner. He highlighted the importance of universal and enlightened participation in elections, which strengthens democracy and ensures that the voices of all citizens are heard.

The program successfully engaged students and community members, encouraging them to take an active role in the electoral process and understand the power of their vote.
