POONCH, JULY 22: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today visited Panchayat Murrah in Tehsil Surankote to take stock of the situation arising from recent heavy rains, landslides and flash floods, and assess the damage caused in the affected areas.
The DC assessed the severely affected areas and reviewed damage caused to residential houses and other properties. He interacted with affected residents and took detailed feedback on the losses and difficulties faced by them.
Sharma met families who lost loved ones in the flash floods, and expressed his heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the bereaved. He assured them that the district administration stands firmly with them in this difficult hour, and that necessary measures for relief, rehabilitation and restoration would be extended to the affected families on priority, in accordance with applicable norms.
He directed officers concerned to ensure timely assessment of damages and provide all eligible assistance to the affected families without delay.
The DC further stressed the need for coordinated efforts to restore essential services and infrastructure in the affected areas, and directed officers concerned to remain vigilant and responsive to the needs of the affected population.
