SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 29: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary informed the House that Chaki Badwani is already connected to the Kulgam—Qazigund road by an existing road, namely Chaki Badwani to Malikabad Kewa Wanpora.
Deputy Chief Minister was replying during a Calling Attention Notice moved by MLA Abdul Majid Larmi regarding Lack of connectivity from Kulgam-Qazigund Road to Chaki Badwani. The road was sanctioned in the financial year 2000-01 and executed under Phase-I by the Rural Engineering Wing of the Rural Development Department.
He said that the road was completed in 2005 as recorded on the OMMAS portal and handed over to the R&B Department for maintenance, but later it was handed back to the PMGSY Department for maintenance.
Surinder Choudhary informed that in 2025-26, the road was proposed and sanctioned under C&T for renewal coat but due to jurisdictional issues, the proposal could not be processed and was dropped. He further said that the Department is pursuing the matter for resolution.
Deputy Chief Minister also informed the House that the habitation of Chaki Badwani is alternatively connected by an all-weather road, namely the Road from Railway Station Bridge up to Chaki Badwani Chinar, which falls under the jurisdiction of R&B Division Kulgam and connects the habitation with Qazigund.
