SHOPIAN, AUGUST 05: To educate farmers on the importance of responsible pesticide usage to safeguard human health, crops, and the environment, Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (CIPMC), Srinagar, in collaboration with the Horticulture department, Zone Zainapora, Shopian, organized an awareness programme on the safe and judicious use of pesticides at village Reshipora, Shopian.
Assistant Plant Protection Officer (PP), delivered an informative session, emphasizing the harmful effects of indiscriminate pesticide use and the significance of adopting safer and more sustainable pest management practices.
Horticulture Technician-II, also addressed the participants, encouraging the adoption of best practices in horticulture for long-term benefits.
A field demonstration was conducted to showcase the correct method of pesticide application using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits. The demonstration provided hands-on training to the farmers on how to protect themselves during pesticide handling and application.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local farmers, who appreciated the initiative and expressed their willingness to implement the knowledge gained.
The programme concluded with a strong message of promoting safe pesticide use and sustainable farming practices in the region.
