KULGAM, AUGUST18: The Department of Handicrafts & Handloom Kulgam today organised an awareness programme for artisans & weavers at town hall Devsar.
The initiative aimed to empower local artisans & weavers by providing them information about various govt schemes, financial assistance programs, marketing support and skill development.
The programe witnessed participation of more than 100 artisans & weavers from across the Kulgam district especially from Devsar area.
Officers from the dept addressed the gathering and shared insights regarding benefits under various schemes.
On the occasion, Assistant Director Handicrafts & Handloom Kulgam Sheikh Hemayun Javid highlighted the commitment of department for the upliftment of traditional crafts. He encouraged artisans to utilise digital platform for marketing & expanding their reach.
The session also included distribution of brochures, interactive Question-Answer session, experience sharing of some prominent Awardees.
Lead District Manager Kulgam, resource persons from JKEDI Kulgam and Craft development institute Srinagar also shed light on various initiatives.
