BANDIPORA, AUGUST 29: District administration Bandipora in collaboration with SANKALP-HEW, Mission Shakti and Social Welfare department Bandipora today organized an awareness programme on SHe-Box Portal, POSH Act 2013 and Domestic Violence Act-2005 at the conference hall, mini secretariat Bandipora.
The programme aimed at sensitizing participants about women-centric legislations and schemes introduced by the Government of India to ensure safety, security, and empowerment of women.
On the occasion, an official from District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora delivered an extensive lecture on Domestic Violence Act, SHe-Box Portal, POSH Act and other women protection and empowerment initiatives.
He emphasized that women are equally entitled to a dignified life, urging participants to be aware of their rights, and also appealed not to misuse these legal provisions for personal benefit.
Speaking on the occasion, District Social Welfare officer Bandipora highlighted the vital role of the Social Welfare department in safeguarding women’s rights and informed participants about the services being provided under various women empowerment schemes.
An official from One Stop Centre Bandipora highlighted the wide range of services including medical and police assistance, legal aid, psycho-social counselling, video conferencing facility, temporary shelter with food and clothing, as well as emergency and non-emergency response being provided at the Sakhi-One Stop Centre for supporting women in distress.
The awareness programme was attended by officers, officials, and female staff from various offices located within the Mini Secretariat and Bandipora town.
