BUDGAM: The District Administration Budgam Tuesday said that a massive demolition drive shall be carried out against the basement parking violations by Shopping Complex owners in Budgam Town.
These remarks were made by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Budgam Dr Nasir Ahmad during an inspection drive across the main town area.
He said that the drive shall be started from Ompora to Mirgund and action shall be taken against all offenders for violations of basement parkings, encroachments and other illegal activities.
The ADC was accompanied by ARTO, Dy. SP Traffic, Executive Officer Municipal Committee, SHO Budgam and Naib Tehsildar, other concerned officers and officials.
He said that a robust work plan is being implemented for the beautification of the Budgam Town and all efforts are on to ensure there are no traffic jams and other issues are reported.
During the drive, the ADC inspected basements of Commercial buildings at both Old and New Bus Stands and instructed concerned to ensure basement areas of all commercial buildings are used for parking purposes only.
Taking serious note of the violations, the ADC said that a massive demolition drive shall be taken out throughout the Town area against these violations.
He instructed that all encroachments be removed in a week’s time otherwise the same shall be cleared during the demolition drive soon. He said as per the law no business activity or use of any space in the basement shall be used for any other commercial purposes other than parking.
The ADC said that those buildings which have been granted permissions for the business purposes illegally shall be taken with the relevant quarters for the investigation.
He said that misuse of basement parking is resulting in roadside parking, causing traffic snarls in the town and inconveniences to the general public.
He instructed concerned to ensure there is no roadside parking and all encroachments are removed on war footing to ensure smooth flow of traffic across the Town.
