Srinagar: A local civilian was shot dead and a non-local vendor was shot at and seriously injured by suspected militants in Budgam and Pulwama districts of Kashmir Valley on Monday evening.
In central Kashmir’s Budgam, police said that militants had barged into the house of a civilian identified as Tajamul Mohi-ud-din Dar at Gotpora and fired indiscriminately upon him.
“In this incident, he had sustained critical gunshot injuries and was immediately shifted to nearby hospital for the treatment,” a police spokesman said in a statement to GNS. However, he said, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, in Gangoo Pulwama, militants fired upon one street vendor identified as Bisujeet Kumar Son of Paras Madal of Bihar at about 1945 hours. In this incident, Kumar received gunshot injuries and was shifted to District Hospital.
A doctor at hospital told GNS that Kumar was shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar in a Critical Care ambulance where he is being treated.
“Police have registered cases regarding both the incidents. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances leading to these (incidents),” the spokesperson said. The respective areas have been cordoned and search in these areas is going on, he added. When this report was filed, no arrest were reported. (GNS)
