Bandipora, October 19: The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad Thursday congratulated Peerzada Aqeel, who recently bagged the 2023 Mr Kashmir title.
Peerzada Aqeel, a 27-year-old fitness enthusiast, hailing from Bandipora, secured the overall championship in the senior division of the recently concluded 2nd Sher-i-Kashmir Bodybuilding & Men’s Physique Championship 2023.
Dr. Owais appreciated him for establishing a fitness center and involving the local youth of Bandipora in various fitness related programs. The DC said that the involvement of youth in fitness related activities serves as a catalyst to keep the youth away from drug menace.
The DC said that district administration is committed to promote sports and fitness environment in the district and urged youth to participate in co curriculum activities.
The DC urged the youth to become ambassadors of healthy lifestyle and advised them to stay away from drugs and emphasized upon the role of fitness centres and sports academies in fostering health life style.
Dr Owais expressed commitment to developing sports infrastructure in the district and promoting the health and wellness of the general public.
