BARAMULLA, OCTOBER 15: A delegation from the areas affected by NHPC-II project, today met with the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa at Dakbanglow Lagma, Uri, in the presence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Uri and the NHPC-II authorities.
During the meeting, the delegation raised serious concerns about alleged unfair employment practices being followed at the NHPC-II Project. The issues highlighted included the exclusion of eligible local candidates, favoritism in recruitment, hiring of outsiders, and lack of transparency in selection procedures.
The delegation pointed out that these practices have led to widespread resentment and a sense of injustice among local youth who have long awaited fair employment opportunities in line with NHPC’s stated Rehabilitation and Resettlement commitments.
After hearing both sides, the Deputy Commissioner assured the delegation that genuine demands will be addressed promptly.
The DC also issued several directions to the representatives of NHPC-II to take immediate corrective measures for resolving the grievances raised by the delegation and to ensure transparent and equitable employment practices in future.
The delegation expressed satisfaction over the DC’s assurance and urged for timely implementation of the directions given.
