B’pora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Monday handed over various sports kits to ZPEO Gurez for onward distribution among various Sports Clubs and associations of Gurez.
The DC handed over sports kits worth 1.60 lakh including footballs, volleyballs, Nets, uniforms, shuttlecocks, rackets, cricket bats besides other sports equipment.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the district administration is keen to develop sports infrastructure in the district under different schemes.
Dr Owais urged the youngsters’ of the Gurez valley to spend leisure time in sports activities for their overall development. He said the people, especially youth of Gurez, need to do more physical exercise as they remain indoors during winters and the summer is high time for them to increase their sports activities.
Joint Director Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad, ZPEO Gurez Nazir Ahmad, In-charge Activities Bandipora Nasir Hussain, In-charge activities Gurez, Shah Mohammad Dar and other senior officials of the district were present on the occasion.
