BUDGAM, AUGUST 07: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today inaugurated the district-level teachers’ training programme on “Classes of Joy- TaRL approach”, at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall Budham.
The training is being organised by the District Administration Budgam in collaboration with the Pratham Education Foundation and the School Education Department.
The first batch of 400 teachers participated at three venues. training was conducted simultaneously at three venues viz. Budgam, Soibug, Narbal and Khansahib.
In the initiative training is being given to around 4500 teachers of all 859 primary and middle schools.
Addressing the inaugural session, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the importance of Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) in improving learning outcomes. He stressed the need for child-centred, activity-based teaching methods that enable every child to build strong foundational skills. He stressed on making learning joyful, engaging and inclusive.
Chief Education Officer Budgam highlighted the importance of continuous professional development for teachers and appreciated the collaborative efforts of the District Administration and the Pratham Education Foundation in organising the programme. He expressed confidence that the initiative would strengthen classroom practices and contribute to improving the quality of education across the district.
The “Classes of Joy” programme aims to equip teachers with effective pedagogical strategies to create interactive, joyful and inclusive classrooms while strengthening foundational learning and promoting the holistic development of students.
The initiative reflects the District Administration Budgam’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education through teacher capacity building, innovation and sustained collaboration with development partners.
