BUDGAM, APRIL 20: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today chaired a review meeting at TRC Tangnar, Doodhpathri to assess the progress and future roadmap for tourism development in the picturesque destination.
The meeting was attended by senior officers including CEO, Doodhpathri Development Authority (DDA), ACR Budgam, Superintending Engineer R&B, SDM Khansahib, JD planning Budgam, Divisional Forest Officer Budgam, Divisional Head Ecology & Environment Department and SHO Khansahab.
During the meeting, a detailed presentation highlighted the immense tourism potential of Doodhpathri, which is steadily emerging as a major eco-tourism and adventure destination. It was informed that the area has witnessed significant tourist footfall in recent years, with encouraging projections for further growth. The destination, located at an altitude of around 8960 feet, is known for its lush green meadows, scenic landscapes, rivers like Shaliganga and Sukhnag, and trekking routes connecting Tosamaidan, Yousmarg, and other high-altitude locations.
The DC reviewed the status of the existing infrastructure, including accommodation facilities, road connectivity, power supply, mobile connectivity, SWM, etc.
Detailed discussion strengthening hospitality infrastructure, enhancing road connectivity, and augmenting essential services to meet the growing tourist influx was held.
The Deputy Commissioner also deliberated on the Master Plan of Doodhpathri. The DC stressed on the timely completion and finalisation of the master plan. Directions were issued to departments for coordination, information sharing, GIS mapping, ground truthing for ensuring time bound completion.
After the meeting, the DC visited various tourist spots in Doodhpathri to take on-ground assessment of facilities and ongoing development works.
Later, the DC inspected an under-construction bridge at Doodhpathri, Skilift Project, and the proposed Gondola project site.
A plantation drive was also conducted at the Doodhpathri tourist destination as part of sustained efforts to promote environmental sustainability and preserve the ecological balance of the area.
The DC stated that Doodhpathri will be developed as a model eco-tourism destination with focus on infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and livelihood generation for local communities.
