DC Budgam reviews developmental projects, key Public issues of Budgam Division

BUDGAM, APRIL 08: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of developmental projects and address key public issues pertaining to Division Budgam of the District at the Conference Hall, DC Office Complex.

At the outset, the Assistant Commissioner Revenue Budgam, Afroza Bano presented a detailed overview of the administrative and developmental profile of the sub-division. It was informed that Sub-Division Budgam comprises one tehsil, four niabats, 23 patwar halqas, and 107 revenue villages, along with two CD blocks and one Council.

A detailed department-wise review was conducted, covering major sectors including Public Works (R&B), Jal Jeevan Mission (PHE), Power Development Department (PDD), Health, Education, Revenue, Rural Development, Social Welfare, Irrigation & Flood Control, and Urban Development.

The Social Welfare Department apprised the chair that under ICDS, a significant number of beneficiaries are being covered, including 8,852 children (6 months to 6 years), 572 pregnant women, and 598 lactating mothers.

The meeting was also informed about the upgradation of one Palna Creche Centre and seven Bal Vatika centres in the division.

The Public Works (R&B) Department presented updates on various ongoing works, including Capex, PRI, BDC, CDF, and DMRRR projects. Progress under Jal Jeevan Mission was also reviewed, with emphasis on timely completion of water supply schemes.

The Health Department briefed the meeting on healthcare services, including implementation of the PM Dialysis Programme at the District Hospital Budgam.

The School Education Department highlighted infrastructural gaps, particularly the requirement of land for 46 rented school buildings.

The KPDCL and Irrigation & Flood Control departments also presented updates on their respective works and service delivery mechanisms. The Municipal Council Budgam provided details of works under various State Capex Budgets, including FC Grants, IDMT, and Normal Sources.

During the meeting, several key issues affecting the public were highlighted, including lack of adequate parking space at major government offices such as District Court and District Hospital Budgam, congestion at the Main Adda Budgam, and the need for widening of the Srinagar–Humhama road.

Addressing the meeting, the DC stressed the importance of timely execution of all developmental works, improved inter-departmental coordination, and prompt resolution of public grievances.

He directed all departments to ensure efficient implementation of schemes, optimal utilization of resources, and adherence to timelines.

The DC further emphasised the need for proactive planning, removal of bottlenecks, and a focused approach towards enhancing public service delivery across the sub-division.

The DC gave directions for necessary follow-up action and regular monitoring of all ongoing projects to ensure their timely completion and maximum public benefit.

Besides, ACR Budgam, JD planning Budgam, CMO, CEO, CAO, concerned Tehsildar’s, EOs, Executive Engineers and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
