UDHAMPUR, MAY 28: Department of Youth Services and Sports, Udhampur today organized the District-Level Inter-Zonal/Inter-School Kabaddi tournament for under 14 and under-17 students, here at Mini Stadium.

The event was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, as the chief guest. She was accompanied by District Youth Services & Sports Officer Romesh Chander Mishra.

Addressing the gathering, the DC extended her best wishes to all the participants and congratulated the DYSSO for organizing this event.

Emphasizing the importance of aligning sports with social causes, the DC lauded the initiative of linking the tournament with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, calling it a commendable step that would not only promote physical fitness but also enhance the mental well-being of youth.

She further highlighted the vital role of co-curricular activities, particularly sports, in the holistic development of students, stating that such engagements instill discipline, teamwork and a positive attitude towards life.

The DC also urged all participants to become brand Ambassadors for the fight against drug abuse and join hands in building a healthy, drug-free society.

Later, the participants took a solemn pledge to promote Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and also sang the National Anthem, marking the conclusion of the inaugural ceremony.
