GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 30: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, today chaired a Public Outreach Programme at Tourist Facilitation Centre, Lalmar, Chountwaliwar, Block Lar, aimed at listening to the grievances, issues and demands of the general public and ensuring their prompt resolution.
During the programme, the people from the village and adjoining areas apprised the Deputy Commissioner of various issues and demands pertaining to road connectivity, irrigation, drinking water supply, tourism promotion, infrastructure and other developmental matters.
The DC gave a patient hearing to the public and took up the issues with the officers from various line departments present on the occasion.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to examine the grievances raised by the public on priority and ensure their time-bound redressal. Directions for resolution of various issues were issued on the spot, while matters requiring further examination were referred to the concerned departments for necessary action.
The DC directed the concerned departments to address the irrigation-related issues raised by the public and ensure that necessary measures are taken to improve irrigation facilities in the identified areas. He also directed the concerned agencies to examine the requirements of areas facing drinking water shortages and ensure provision of adequate water supply to the affected habitations.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the concerned agencies to accord priority to road connectivity and other essential infrastructure and directed that the issues raised regarding roads and public facilities be resolved at the earliest.
Reviewing tourism related issues and potential, the DC called for greater focus on promotion of tourism in the area and directed the concerned departments to explore measures for boosting tourism activities and creating better facilities for visitors and trekkers. He stressed upon the concerned agencies to work towards promotion of homestays and other basic facilities at suitable locations to support trekking and tourism-related activities, encouraging local participation in tourism and generating livelihood opportunities for the local population.
The DC further directed the concerned officers to ensure effective publicity of government schemes so that the local population is adequately informed and can avail the benefits of various development and livelihood initiatives.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised that all grievances raised during the outreach programme should be properly recorded and followed up by the concerned departments. He directed the officers to undertake necessary field visits wherever required and ensure that genuine public grievances are redressed in a time bound manner.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the District Administration towards responsive governance, effective grievance redressal and regular public outreach, and directed all concerned departments to ensure prompt action on the demands and issues brought forth by the people.
The programme was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Programme Officer ICDS, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, concerned Executive Engineers, Assistant Director Employment, Tehsildar Lar, Block Development Officer Lar, District Social Welfare Officer, Lead District Manager and other concerned officers.
