KISHTWAR, DECEMBER 19: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma today chaired a comprehensive review meeting with officers of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), Kishtwar to assess the prevailing power supply scenario and progress of ongoing power infrastructure works and works under RDSS in the district.
At the outset, the Executive Engineer JPDCL briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the current status of power supply and initiatives being undertaken by JPDCL to minimize T&D losses through implementation of RDSS & Smart metering.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Executing Agencies- PGCIL & RECPDCL to prepare a Google sheet, showing daily progress of cable laying and smart metering. Further, the Executive Engineer was asked to submit feeder-wise progress of cabling works & installation of smart meters covering both town areas and other parts of the district with main focus on saturation of Town feeders.
Emphasizing the importance of timely execution, the DC sought special focus on accelerating smart metering, which may in turn increase the demand for solar rooftop set up.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the pace of smart meter installation by executing agency M/S Genus, the Deputy Commissioner directed the firm to increase the manpower and expedite the work immediately, warning that delays would not be tolerated.
Reviewing urban infrastructure works, the DC instructed PGCIL to speed up the execution of underground cabling in Kishtwar town to address decongestion issues and support town beautification and facelifting efforts.
Executive Engineer Sub Transmission Division Doda was directed to ensure the time-bound completion of 33/11 KV receiving stations at Chatroo, Bounjwah and Malipeth, stressing that these projects are critical for improving power reliability in remote areas.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the Chief Project Manager PGCIL to ensure 100 percent completion of LT cables for Mandal feeder under the RDSS scheme.
The meeting was informed that the installation of 50 MVA power transformer at Katersamna Grid Station was completed on December 5, 2025, which significantly addressed power shortage in Kishtwar town and adjoining areas.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal; Chief Planning Officer Akhil Thakur; Superintending Engineer JPDCL Anil Gautam; Executive Engineer JPDCL Latif Wani besides other concerned officers of JPDCL, PGCIL & RECPDCL were present in the meeting.
