DC Kupwara reviews preparations for launch of ‘Skill Mission-Hunarmand Kupwara’

KUPWARA, JUNE 12: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today convened a meeting of concerned officers at D.C Office here to review the preparations for ‘Skill Mission-Hunarmand Kupwara’, an initiative for empowering youth through skill development under Aspirational District Programme of NITI Aayog which shall be launched on June 16 (Monday).

‘Skill Mission-Hunarmand Kupwara’ is an initiative of district administration Kupwara to equip the youth of the district with different skills to boost their employability and livelihood potential.

Speaking at the occasion, DC said that ‘Skill Mission-Hunarmand Kupwara’ initiative is not just a set of training courses but a step towards unlocking possibilities, enhancing employability and redefining the future of thousands of youth in Kupwara district.

She impressed upon the officers to identify maximum youth especially belonging to vulnerable groups for their skilling under the initiative so as to boost their employability. She emphasized the need for offering customized courses to cater to the needs of the potential candidates.

The officers were directed to ensure wide publicity of the Skill Mission to ensure its grass-root awareness. Besides, the ADCs and SDMs will lead the launch of the initiative in their respective jurisdictions.

It was informed in the meeting that about 600 candidates have been identified and enrolled under 18 different courses in Government Polytechnic College and Industrial Training Institutes which will start from Monday. The courses under which the candidates will be skilled include Basic Computer Digital Literacy, Sozni Embroidery, Basic Masonry and Concreting, Solar Power Technician, Basic Tailoring, Basic Multimedia & Animation, Mobile Repairing etc.

The meeting was attended by SDM Lolab, SDM Karnah, Principal Govt. Polytechnic College Kupwara, Chief Education Officer, CPO, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Superintendents of ITI Kupwara, Handwara, Lalpora & Tangdar, District Officer EDI, DPM NRLM Kupwara and other concerned.
