RAMBAN, JULY 16: Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Alyas Khan today interacted with media persons of the district to foster a collaborative dialogue and understand the issues faced by them.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the print and electronic media organizations, who engaged in a candid discussion with the Deputy Commissioner on several matters of public interest. During the interaction, the media representatives also raised the demand for the establishment of a Press Club at the district headquarters, citing the need for a common platform to facilitate journalistic work and strengthen coordination.
Responding positively, Deputy Commissioner Alyas Khan assured the media fraternity that their genuine demands and concerns would be duly considered.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized the vital role of media in the democratic setup, calling it the fourth pillar of democracy. He said the media acts as a bridge between the government and the public, helping to ensure transparency, accountability, and participatory governance. He also underscored the importance of responsible and ethical journalism in bringing government schemes and welfare initiatives to the attention of the public, particularly those aimed at empowering youth through livelihood and self-employment opportunities.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the District Administration’s commitment to address genuine public issues and facilitate their prompt resolution.

Earlier, President of the Journalist Association Ramban, Mohammad Taskeen Wani welcomed the Deputy Commissioner and expressed gratitude for his outreach and commitment to strengthening the role of media in the district.
