No increase or decreasing trend of power observed during actual peak demand of power: J&K PDD

Srinagar, Dec 19: The Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department (JKPDD) has said that there was ‘no continuous increasing or decreasing trend of power observed in actual peak demand and peak demand met.’

Stating the projection of load growth in the transmission network and present load in the transmission network, PDD said, “It is observed that there is no continuous increasing or decreasing trend observed in the actual peak demand and peak demand met.”

According to the official documents accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the department has further revealed that in Financial Year 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 respectively there was a deficit of 20 percent (actuals).

However, it also states that in the past two years including FY 2021-22 and 2022-23, the department has recorded no deficit (actuals).

“Further, it is observed that, there was around 20 percent deficit for the first 3 years (actuals) & zero percent deficit for the 2 years (actuals),” it reads.

Pertinently, the actual energy means the total number of kWh generated by the system in a given guarantee year, as measured by the monitoring hardware and as communicated to us by Customer in accordance with agreement.

The official documents reveal that the present installed generation capacity in UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh is 1360.98 MW comprising 1230 MW of Hydropower based generation capacity and 130.98 MW of Renewable Energy based generation (small hydro and solar)—(KNO)
