RAMBAN, JUNE 24: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of developmental works being executed by the Public Works Department (R&B) and PMGSY in the district.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather, Executive Engineers of PWD (Ramban and Banihal), Executive Engineers of PMGSY (Ramban and Banihal), AEEs and AEs from both departments.
During the review, the Deputy Commissioner directed the departments to ensure proper maintenance of the newly completed and already functional roads, buildings, and other infrastructure assets. He emphasized the need to maintain quality standards in the execution of the ongoing developmental projects and instructed for strict monitoring to avoid any compromise on the quality of work.
The DC issued clear directions to take stern action against contractors causing unwarranted delays in the execution of projects of public importance. He stressed the importance of accountability and timely delivery to ensure public convenience and optimal utilization of resources.
The meeting was informed that 7 NABARD funded road projects have been completed in PWD Division Ramban, while 6 are stalled due to forest clearance and other land related issues.
It was further informed that 14 NABARD road projects have been sanctioned for PWD Division Banihal. The DC directed officials to expedite the tendering process, pursue forest clearance and other issues affecting the execution of the projects.
Reviewing the progress of PMGSY Works, the DC expressed satisfaction and appreciated the progress made in project completion in both divisions.
Taking note of forest clearance issue hindering the projects, the DC directed the Chief Planning Officer to furnish a detailed report on all such pending cases for timely intervention at appropriate levels.
The Executive Engineers were asked to coordinate with the concerned SDMs and Forest Department to secure clearances. The SDMs were further instructed to intervene promptly to resolve local issues amicably by involving civil society.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed both departments to focus on achieving financial and physical targets to avoid last-minute rush and ensure timely completion of all projects.
