REASI, AUGUST 13: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at Seri Tanda and took stock of the activities being carried out by the Kendra for the benefit of farmers and the rural community.
Head of KVK Dr. Banarsi Lal briefed the DC about the functioning of the centre, farmer training programmes, initiatives for value addition of agricultural produce and the achievements made by the Kendra. He also apprised the DC of the efforts being made to equip farmers with improved agricultural practices and encourage them towards income-generating activities.
The DC emphasized the need to promote lemongrass cultivation in areas affected by monkey menace to enable farmers to adopt suitable alternative crops and improve their livelihood opportunities. He directed the KVK to continue its farmer training programmes and lay greater focus on practical and field-oriented training.
He directed the CAHO to focus on establishing more poultry units across the district and encourage eligible farmers and youth to take up poultry farming as a viable livelihood activity.
CPO Narinder Kumar, CAHO Dr. R.K. Kaith and other concerned officials accompanied the DC during the visit.
