SAMBA, JUNE 13: Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma, convened a comprehensive meeting today at the Conference Hall, DC Office Samba, to review and finalize the arrangements for the upcoming Baba Sidh Goria

Mela, Eid Ul Adha, and International Yoga Day celebrations.
The annual Baba Sidh Goria Mela in village Swankha is scheduled for June 16, 2024. Eid Ul Adha will be celebrated on June 17, 2024 and International Yoga Day will be celebrated on June 21, 2024.

During the meeting, the DC directed officers of Jal Shakti and JPDCL to ensure the smooth supply of water and power across the district. He also instructed the Jal Shakti department to deploy water tankers in required areas to ensure no shortage of water on both occasions.

DC instructed the Block Development Officers (BDOs) and Executive Officers (EOs) to maintain proper sanitation at designated locations in both rural and urban areas.

The Tourism Department will install hoardings and banners at various locations to guide and inform devotees attending the Sidh Goria Mela.

Security arrangements, fire safety measures, traffic regulation, and the deployment of health officials were thoroughly reviewed to ensure the safety and well-being of all attendees.

The DC directed the Food Safety Department and other relevant bodies to constitute joint market-checking teams to intensify inspections. These teams will ensure the quality of food items and other essentials in the market and maintain the availability of quality products. They will also ensure that no exorbitant rates are imposed on essential commodities during the festival, and violators will be dealt with according to the law.
Various departments will set up stalls at the Sidh Goria Mela to educate visiting devotees about government schemes and welfare programs.

DC emphasized that the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department must complete the filling of potholes on major roads leading to Swankha before the mela. The Revenue, Police, and Transport Departments will identify strategic spots for signage installation and create a well-publicized route plan for pilgrims.

The meeting was attended by SSP Samba, Vinay Kumar, ADC Suresh Sharma, ACR, SDM Vijaypur, DIO, Tehsildars, BDOs, Executive Engineers (Xens) of PWD, PDD, and PHE, EO’s, SHO of Vijaypur and Ramgarh.
