REASI, FEBRUARY 21: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi, Nidhi Malik on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to assess the working and performance of the Rural Development Department (RDD) schemes. The review covered key initiatives such as MGNREGA, the CAPEX budget, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), and the Aspirational Block Development Program. DDC emphasized the importance of effective implementation and urged officials to enhance their efforts in improving rural infrastructure and livelihood opportunities.

The DDC directed Block Development Officers (BDOs) to personally visit each Panchayat to motivate beneficiaries to expedite the construction of PMAY-G houses. She also stressed the importance of maintaining close coordination with Tehsildars to ensure the recovery process from defaulters. By streamlining these efforts, she highlighted the need to boost the overall progress under the scheme and ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive timely support.

Further, the DDC instructed BDOs to revisit their developmental plans, with a strong focus on water conservation and sustainability. She also outlined a vision to establish a playground in every Panchayat, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to improving public amenities and recreational facilities for the youth. These initiatives, she stated, would contribute to a well-rounded rural development strategy.

DDC further emphasized the role of education in community development and urged BDOs to conduct regular school visits to monitor and improve literacy rates, particularly among females. She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring that BDOs remain accessible to the public and actively engage with local communities. The meeting concluded with a call for collaborative efforts to accelerate rural development and improve the quality of life for residents. CPO Reasi Narinder Kumar, ACD Pardeep Kumar, BDOs were present during the meeting.
