UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER 20: Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Udhampur on Saturday organised a District level sensitization and educational workshop under the project and knowledge management component of Annual Work Plan and Budget (AWPB) 2025-26 Yuva Vani 2.0 of the Jammu and Kashmir Competitiveness of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP).
The Training Program was organised at the town Hall Ramnagar which was inaugurated by local MLA, Dr Sunil Bhardwaj as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the farmers, Youth Club members, Self Help Group members and Agri-preneurs, the MLA highlighted the pivotal role of youth in nation building and environmental stewardship. He urged the youth club members to act as ambassadors of change in their respective blocks.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Harbans Singh informed that Ramnagar, Chenani, Latti and Moungri blocks have been selected for JKCIP implementation. He stressed the importance of crop diversification towards high value crops and encouraged youth to move beyond traditional farming practices and adopt innovative market oriented agriculture. He also stressed on cultivation of high value crops which can fetch better remunerative prices in the market.
Assistant Soil Chemist, Sunil Gupta encouraged the farmers to go for soil analysis so that recommended doses of nutrients can be applied in the field. The DDC Member, Mool Raj appreciated the department for organising such workshops.
Agriculture and allied departments put up stalls to showcase initiatives aimed at enriching the farming sectors. Approximately 300 individuals including farmers, self help group members, youth and Krishi Udyami participated in the programme.
Apiculture Development Officer, Pawan Talwar; Mushroom Development Officer, Vinod Gupta; SDAO, Ashwani Abrol; SMS SDL, Rakesh Sharma and Arun Dubey were also present at the event.
District Agriculture Extension Officer, Sudhir Manahas presented vote of thanks.
