District Reasi starts yearlong celebration of birth of girl child

REASI, MAY 29: District Development Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan on Monday felicitated a new born girl child and her parents at District Hospital Reasi. This marked the initiation of year long celebrations of birth of every new born girl child in district Reasi as Beti Janamotsav under Beti Bachao Beti Padao Scheme of Department of Social Welfare.

During the function, DDC emphasised the importance of close coordination among other departments to ensure the effective implementation of the schemes of Social Welfare Department. Terming the move as one of its kind initiative, the DDC emphasised that the objective of this long year celebrations is promote positive thinking for the girls and to participate in the celebration of the families on the birth of a girl child. He emphasised that the bright future of the girl child will ensure a better and healthy society.

District Social Welfare Officer Reasi, Sachin Sharma, appraised that like this and many other initiatives shall be organised at regular intervals which will help in empowering women.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ravinder Manhas, Medical Superintendent Dr. Gopal Dutt and other officers were also present.
