GANDERBAL, JULY 11: In observance of World Population Day, 2026, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal, under the guidance of Abdul Nasir, Chairman, DLSA, (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Ganderbal and under the supervision of Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal, organised a Legal Awareness Programme at District Hospital (DH), Ganderbal.
The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness regarding population issues, reproductive health, family welfare, and the legal rights and entitlements available to citizens.
On the occasion, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsels acted as Resource Persons and sensitised the participants on the importance of population stabilisation, maternal and reproductive health, responsible parenthood, gender equality, and the role of legal awareness in promoting the well-being of families.
The Resource Persons also highlighted the provisions of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, informing the participants about their right to free legal aid, the legal assistance available through Legal Services Institutions, and the importance of seeking legal remedies for the protection of their rights.
The programme witnessed active participation from the hospital officials and staff, who appreciated the initiative undertaken by DLSA Ganderbal to spread awareness on issues of public importance.
The programme concluded on an interactive note, with participants seeking clarification on various legal and social issues relating to population and reproductive health. The Resource Persons responded to the queries in detail and emphasised the importance of legal awareness in empowering citizens to safeguard their rights and avail free legal aid.
