DLSA Gbl kick-starts Legal Awareness Campaign/ Week in celebration of International Women’s Day

GANDERBAL, MARCH 05: On the eve of celebration of International Women’s Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal today kick-started a Legal awareness campaign/week in the district to raise awareness among the general public, particularly women.

The campaign was held under the chairmanship of Ritesh Kumar Dubey, Chairman DLSA Ganderbal and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal.

The inaugural event was held at R.P School, Nagbal, Ganderbal, by organizing a legal awareness program for women on Gender equality, women’s empowerment, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence, Dowry and Maintenance and challenges faced by women.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal in her address highlighted the main objective of organizing the event that is to make women in general aware of their rights under law and other entitlements under various enactments being provided to them.

She said, in order to make women self-dependent, there is a need to promote Social empowerment, Economic empowerment, Educational empowerment. Women Empowerment implies the ability of women to make decisions with regard to their life and work and giving equal rights to them in all spheres like personal, social, economic, political, legal etc.

She said that the DLSA Ganderbal provides free legal aid to the women who face violence and discrimination in the society besides making them aware with regard to their rights and incentives being provided to them.

Tanveer Ashraf, Assistant LADC and Burjeena, Panel Lawyer highlighted the issues related to women and provided information about women’s rights. Many acts regarding women protection and women empowerment were also discussed.

During the event, students of R.P School, Nagbal participated enthusiastically in various programs and also performed various activities like speeches, Cultural programs, Ladishah etc.

DLSA Ganderbal in its Endeavour to empower women had also availed the services of Tabasum Amin, Martial Arts Trainer who on spot taught group of students of R.P School, Nagbal with valuable self-defense techniques.

Later, students of R.P School, Nagbal, were felicitated by the Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal for their participation in various activities during the event.

The program was also attended by District Cultural Officer, CEO Office Ganderbal, Nodal Officer, CEO Office Ganderbal, Pr. R.P School, Nagbal, staff and PLVs of DLSA Ganderbal, faculty and students of R.P School, Nagbal.
