DLSA Jammu holds special Lok Adalat to settle Cheque Bounce Cases

JAMMU, OCTOBER 18: In Compliance to the directions of Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, Special Lok Adalat on Cheque Bounce Cases was held today, under the Chairmanship of Y. P. Bourney, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Jammu here in the Court complex Janipur.

As many as 18 Benches were constituted in different Courts to deal with the matter of 138 Negotiable Instruments Act cases.

The Special Lok Adalat focused specifically on the amicable settlement of cheque bounce cases in line with the broader aim of reducing pendency and promoting accessible justice for all.

The Special Lok Adalat stands as a testimony to the commitment of the Legal Services Authorities to ensure that justice is not only delivered, but delivered efficiently, empathetically and economically.

It also reinforces the importance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in strengthening the justice delivery system.

A total number of 277 cases pertaining to Cheque Bounce Cases were taken up, out of which 74 cases were settled. The total Amount recovered was Rs. 2,60,38,463/-.
