DLSA Kathua observes “International Girl Child Day”

KATHUA, OCTOBER 11: As per the Action Plan issued by the J&K Legal Services Authority (JKLSA) for the month of October 2024 and under the directions of Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Kathua (Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kathua) Jatinder Singh Jamwal, “International Girl Child Day” was observed by DLSA Kathua at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kathua.

The celebration was on the theme of “Educate girl students about their rights and legal consequences of child marriage and the importance of education”.

For better understanding of legal provisions and remedy among girls students, the Secretary DLSA, Kathua Kamiya Singh Andotra collaborated with Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua to host interactive session.

Panel lawyers Naiya Sharma and Mukesh Kumar Talotra who were the resource persons educated the girl students about the importance of education. They also sensitized them about their legal rights besides educating them about the legal consequences of child marriage and its impact on the tender aged girl child and their life on the whole.

The program was attended by staff members of the school, students and para legal volunteers of DLSA Kathua namely Nitin Subh and Shallu Devi.

School Students Chetna, Kashish Sharma, Anju Bhagat and Sonam Sharma also spoke on the topic of rights of the girls. ‎
