REASI, SEPTEMBER 26: District Magistrate Reasi Kumar Abhishek, who is also Chairman of the District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), today chaired a meeting to review animal welfare measures and the functioning of the Society in the district.
The meeting reviewed the proposal for procurement of an Animal Catcher Vehicle by the local Municipal body. “The proposed vehicle would be utilized as per operational requirements and a mutually agreed schedule,” the meeting was told.
Discussions were also held on the proposed repair/construction of the boundary wall of the Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department land at Parthal, along with construction of an animal enclosure, chowkidar room and manure pit.
The District Magistrate also reviewed the proposed Animal Birth Control facility, comprising a pre-operative area, operation theatre, post-operative recovery room, store/pharmacy and separate kennels. He directed the concerned officers to conduct a joint inspection of the identified building and assess its suitability for the proposed facility.
The District Magistrate stressed close coordination among the Animal Husbandry Department, Municipal Committees, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and other stakeholders for effective animal welfare and timely resolution of related issues.
ADC Rakesh Kumar, ACR Nitin Verma, SDM Katra Piyush Dhotra, Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Katra, and other concerned officers were present.
