SRINAGAR, MAY 23: Aiming to eradicate drugs from society, District Administration Srinagar today organized an anti-drugs awareness programme at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), Sonwar to sensitize students about the dangers of drug abuse.

The awareness programme was held on the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat under ongoing Drug Free Jammu & Kashmir initiative to raise awareness about the illicit impacts of the drugs on the individuals, their families and the society.

During the programme, talented artists of Kashmir Kala Manch, from Cultural Unit Kashmir, DIPR, staged a hard-hitting and thought-provoking skit portraying the devastating impact of drug addiction on individuals, families, and society at large.

Through powerful performances and a compelling narrative skit, emotional, social and psychological trauma caused by substance abuse was effectively conveyed to the audiences. The presentation struck a deep chord with the audience and was met with resounding applause and appreciation for its meaningful message and artistic excellence.

On the occasion, speakers highlighted the importance of collective community responsibility in addressing the growing challenge of substance abuse. They urged the youth to channel their energy into constructive and developmental pursuits.

School staff and students also took part in the anti drugs awareness programme and pledged to become active change-makers and advocates for a drug-free society within their own communities.

The event saw active participation from officials representing the departments of education, health, excise, social welfare and other concerned.
