RAJOURI, APRIL 25: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today convened a Block Diwas programme at LOC Village Chowkihandan in Nowshera, providing a platform to the local public to raise their grievances and developmental issues.
During the interaction, people from adjoining panchayats projected a wide range of demands seeking additional Power Distribution transformers, smooth functioning of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes, construction of school boundary walls and toilets, clearance of liabilities of Panchayat Ghars, installation of hand pumps in schools, provision of smart TVs, timely payment of MGNREGA works, regular supply of LPG cylinders, adequate supply of seeds, clearance of material liability under MGNREGA, upgradation of High School Langar to Higher Secondary School, water tanker facilities, sanitation facilities in Nowshera town, construction of bunkers and strengthening of Aanganwadi centres.
The Deputy Commissioner listened patiently to the grievances and issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned officers for prompt redressal of the same. He emphasized timely disposal of public issues and accountability of departments in delivering essential services.
Addressing the gathering, the DC assured equitable development of border area villages. “Border and far-flung villages will no longer be seen as “last villages” but will be treated as “first villages in terms of development,” he assured and added that road connectivity, internet access, electricity and telecom services would be strengthened to improve the quality of life in these areas.
The DC further highlighted the administration’s focus on intensive development in villages, including improvements in healthcare, drinking water supply and Anganwadi infrastructure. He stressed that alongside development, social transformation is equally important.
Calling for collective efforts under the Nasha Mukht Abhiyan, the DC urged the public to make all 08 Vibrant Villages and 143 border villages drug-free. He particularly emphasized the crucial role of women in leading community vigilance and awareness to curb drug abuse.
