KATHUA, AUGUST 05: As part of the series of activities being organised to celebrate Independence Day, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College Ramkote today conducted an intra-college National Anthem singing competition.

The event was held under the guidance of the college Principal, Dr Rakesh Kumar Koul. A total of 13 students from BA Semesters I, III and V participated, showcasing their talent in singing.

The panel of judges comprised Prof Pankaj Nandan, IQAC Convener, and Prof Suresh Chander, Convener Cultural Committee. Participants performed renditions of the National Anthem with enthusiasm and were judged on confidence, pronunciation and intonation.

Tania Sharma of BA Semester III secured the first position, followed by Monika Devi of BA Semester V and Kriti Devi of BA Semester III in second and third positions respectively.

An intra-college painting competition was also organised on the theme ‘Portraits of Unsung Heroes of Indian Independence’. Students used the opportunity to artistically honour those whose contributions to the freedom struggle remain less recognised.

The painting competition was adjudged by Prof Pankaj Nandan and Prof Vasundra Raje. Taniya Sharma of BA Semester V bagged first position, Meenakshi Sharma of BA Semester III secured second, and Latasha Sharma of BA Semester V placed third.

The event provided a platform for students to express their creativity while reflecting on India’s freedom struggle and the significance of Independence.
