PULWAMA, OCTOBER 10: Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar conducted a successful plantation drive at Government Degree College Pampore under the Family Adoption Program mandated by the National Medical Commission.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Iffat Hassan, Principal and Dean of GMC Srinagar, who emphasized the importance of social responsibility and environmental sensitivity among medical students.

The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from 180 MBBS students of the 2021 batch, who planted around 200 saplings of conifers and pine trees.

The event was supported by various stakeholders, including Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Social Forestry Pulwama, Forest department, GDC Pampore Administration, and Kashmir Health Project and Youth Parliament.

Under the Family Adoption Program, GMC Srinagar has adopted villages in Pulwama district and is conducting various activities, including community and household health profiling, awareness campaigns, multi-specialty medical camps, and plantation drives. These initiatives aim to promote holistic healthcare and environmental sustainability, aligning with the National Medical Commission’s guidelines.
