JAMMU MARCH 10TH:- Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal Additional General Secretary on Sunday expressed great disappointment against the J&K administration for pursuing anti-poor policies, stating that it has callously ignored the interests of other backward class population. “The headway made with regard to empowerment of weaker sections during National Conference led governments has been undone.

He expressed this in his address at a Working Committee OBC Cell of the party held here today at Sher-e- Kashmir Bhavan, Jammu. The meeting was organized by Abdul Gani Teli Chairman OBC Cell. Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

 Addressing a Working Committee OBC Cell Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal said that the initiatives taken by the successive National Conference Governments in ameliorating the lot of weaker sections, especially Other Backward Class segment of the society. He also recalled the contribution of Sher-e- Kashmir Sheikh Mohd Abdullah towards upliftment and welfare of Other Backward Class segment and said that literacy and socio-economic emancipation got impetus during his tenure and the successive National Conference governments.

 Addressing the Working Committee OBC Cell Jammu Province, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Provincial Secretary Jammu Province recalled that during the National Conference regime in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, the OBC Development Board was constituted with the Chief Minister being the Chairman. He asserted that this Board was specially constituted with the sole aim of addressing the issues of OBC people from time to time to ensure their upliftment. Moveover this community was granted 4 percent reservation to pave the way for the equitable welfare of these people as an effort to bring them at par with the already uplifted and prosperous sections of the society.  

 Addressing Party’s OBC Cell working meeting Jammu Province, Abdul Gani Teli Chairman OBC Cell said that the incumbent regime in J&K led by the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for totally ignoring the people belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) and demanded the enhancement of the reservation quota for the members of this backward community. He also demanded that 27 percent reservation as per the Mandal Commission should be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir, one time certificate be issues to OBC community.  

 On this occasion, a large number of workers joined the National Conference.

Those who were present in the meeting included: Pardeep Bali Provincial Secretary Jammu, Mohd Rafiq Rtd Tehsildar Vice Chairman OBC Cell, Haji Bashir Ahmed Vice Chairman OBC Cell, Sunil Kumar Mehra Vice Chairman OBC Cell, Ayub Butt Vice Chairman OBC Cell, Nissar Ahmed Provincial Secretary OBC Cell, Haji Bashir Provincial Secretary OBC Cell, Khatib Hussain Joint Secretary Jammu Province OBC Cell,  Vijay Lakhsmi Datta Sr leader women wing, Ram Parshotam District President Udhampur Rural, Ch. Mumtaz Bajjard District President ST Cell Poonch, Sheraj Azri, Mohd Aslam, District Presidents, D.D Mehra, Yashpal Verma, Mohd Ishaq, Javed Ahmed Butt, Sunil Kumar Verma, Madan Lal, Mohd Iqbal, Sangat Singh, Anyatullah, Yakoo Ram, Tufail Ahmed, Mohd Gani District President ST Cell, Pavitar Singh District Secretary Udhampur, Mohd Hanief, Mohd Rafiq, Tariq Butt, Sunil Verma, Kuldeep Raj, Anil Kumar Mehra, Jagmohan, Karan Kumar, Ravi Kumar,Deepak Kumar, Mohd Basit, Rohit Kumar, and all the Block Presidents, Secretaries, Prominent workers  of OBC Cell were also present.
