JAMMU, MAY 21: The Heritage Cafeteria Cum Restaurant with Library at the historic Mubarak Mandi complex in Jammu opened today, marking a significant step towards transforming the iconic Dogra heritage site into a major cultural and tourism destination.
MLA Jammu East, Yudhvir Sethi; Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar and Chief Executive Officer of Jammu Smart City Limited and Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Devansh Yadav were present on the occasion.
Developed under the Jammu Smart City Limited initiative, the extensive renovation and restoration work was carried out under the close supervision of the Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society to ensure that the traditional Dogra architectural character and historical essence of the complex remain preserved.
Designed in a traditional architectural style, the project features an open courtyard library and a dining capacity of around 150 guests. The newly developed facility blends heritage with modern hospitality and cultural learning.
The interiors and surrounding ambiance have been developed to provide visitors a royal experience, while maintaining the historical grandeur of the Mubarak Mandi Palace complex.
The cafeteria offers indoor and outdoor dining arrangements with centrally air-conditioned seating, complemented by vintage-style furniture and aesthetically designed spaces.
The attached library has been exclusively dedicated to the history, culture, and heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, enabling visitors to explore the region’s evolution, rulers, leaders, and major historical developments while enjoying food and beverages in a heritage environment.
The project was developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model under a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Jammu Smart City Limited and the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society.
To further improve visitor experience in the heritage zone, a multi-level parking facility near the complex is also under construction.
