RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 29: The Horticulture Department Rajouri today organized an Awareness-cum-Training Programme under the Sewa Parv campaign at its Canning and Craft Centre. The participants, mostly the local women farmers, were trained in processing and preservation of fruits and vegetables to make value added products.
Chief Horticulture Officer Sushil Angurana, DLSMS (Pomology) Arshad Jamil and Manager-cum-Chemist (MCC) Amit Saraf sensitized the female trainees about the scope of fruit and vegetable processing in generating self-employment, enhancing income and reducing post-harvest losses.
The technical session included a practical demonstration on fruit and vegetable processing. MCC Amit Saraf showcased the preparation and preservation of value-added products such as pickles, jams and other processed items. The hands-on training generated great interest among the trainees, equipping them with the skills to start small-scale enterprises in the food processing sector.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, where participants expressed keen interest in adopting fruit and vegetable processing as a source of income generation.
