Srinagar: A campus recruitment drive was conducted by the Centre for Career Planning and Counseling (CCPC)  at University of Kashmir, on Monday.

The recruitment drive was held days after the Vice-Chancellor KU Prof Nilofer Khan chaired the Centre’s Advisory Committee meeting and directed for holding more placement drives for the varsity’s students.

The programme was held in collaboration with Conglomerate IT, a US-based software development and technology consulting firm, and Directorate of Employment, J&K Government, and Model Career Centre, Kulgam.

A group of representatives from the company held interviews of the registered candidates for the positions of US IT Bench Sales, US IT Recruiters, Digital Marketing Specialist, Accounts and Payroll Specialist.

A total of 120 vacancies are to be filled by the firm, for which 400 aspirants had registered on the CCPC website.

KU Registrar Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir was the chief guest who interacted with the recruiters and aspirants.

While enquiring about the annual pay packages, other perks and privileges offered by the company, Dr Nisar urged the students to develop soft and hard skills and enhance their abilities to compete in the contemporary job market.

Dr Mir appreciated CCPC for holding campus recruitment drives and urged the Centre to invite more corporate for placement drives in future.

Director CCPC Prof Geer Mohammad Ishaq thanked the company representatives for collaborating with the Centre and urged them to fully tap the potential of registered students and try to recruit as many aspirants as possible.

He expressed concerns that the number of students ultimately recruited by various companies visiting the Centre is far less than the actual number of vacancies as a result of “inadequacy of communication skills, creative and analytical thinking, problem-solving and leadership qualities among the aspirants”.

Joint Director employment J&K Hakeem Tanveer Ahmad and Abid Nisar of the Model Career Centre, Kulgam were also present.
